Charcoal-Grilled Kabayaki Eel
Nutritive value
Eel is prized for its tender texture and rich flavour — and it is just as impressive nutritionally. Fresh eel meat contains about 18.6% protein, rising to around 63% after roasting, and provides fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals including calcium, phosphorus, iron and selenium. Roasted eel is a traditional summer favourite in Japan: enjoyed during the eel-eating days (Doyo no Ushi no Hi) in late July, it is loved for its rich, satisfying taste. As Japan’s domestic supply falls short of demand, it imports a large volume of roasted eel every year — much of it from China. With a stable supply chain and consistent quality, we are a reliable partner for customers in these markets.
